Contrary to most predictions, the anticipated duel between Kobe and Lebron will have to wait for at least another year. Kobe did his part, but not Lebron.

A day after the Lakers sent the Nuggets home, the Cavs fell short of beating the Orlando Magic despite the valiant guarantee from Mo Williams. This Magic team is really amazing. The pairing Dwight Howard’s inside presence and the team’s magical touch from the three-point area is just too much for the Cavaliers. The Orlando’s shooters – Lewis, Lee, Alston, Turkoglu, Pietrus – have been consistent and dominant throughout the series.

I just wish the Cavs will win the title next year. I really do. Lebron is still young and he has a lot of playing years ahead of him. For now, I guess he will have to utilize one of those New York Yankees tickets.

Actually, I predicted a Nuggets-Magic Finals. Too bad Chauncey and Melo can’t carry Denver past the Lakers. Still, I’m still looking forward for this year’s championship.

My prediction: Magic in 7.

The Republic Act that increases the maximum deposit coverage of PDIC has been approved last April 29, 2009 and published on May 17, 2009 on Philippine Star and Philippine Daily Inquirer. The date of effectivity for this act is on June 1, 2009.

Republic Act (RA) No. 9576 is an Act increasing the Maximum Deposit Coverage, and in connection therewith, to strengthen the regulatory and administrative authority, and financial capability of the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC), amending for this purpose Republic Act No. 3591, as amended, otherwise known as the PDIC Charter.

This is good news to depositors as it will boost their confidence on banks. Given that the deposits are insured at a certain amount, bank savers can look into free insurance quotes for other types of coverage.

Can a table really explode? Sounds weird but it did happen. The table is made up of tempered glass – a glass sent through the oven at a high temperature to make it more durable in the center. A weakness though is that when enough pressure is applied to an exposed edge, it causes the whole thing to shatter. So I guess, when buying patio furniture, or anything for that matter, you need to look at the best quality.

More and more people are becoming advocates of several ‘go green’ movements. Several activities worldwide, such as turning off the lights for an hour during the earth day, are being performed to support interest. The common theme globally has always been care for the earth, which can be realized by recycling garbage, reusing things, reducing waste and saving energy.

One news states that London aims to “the cleanest, greenest city on earth” by 2012. Several summits are being attended to by leaders of different nations to combat issues such as global warming, pollution and climate change. Common individuals produce decent products out of recycled materials such as bags, patio chairs and tabletop designs. Even grocery stores promote reusable bags to minimize the usage of plastic and paper bags. This just proves that in one way or another, there is always a way for everyone to contribute to saving our dear earth.

Marlon gained about three pounds this month, and it worries me because he’s steadily gaining weight. He’s not obese enough for me to recommend fat burner pills, but I regularly ask him to walk an hour or two daily, and be active in just to burn some fats naturally. I also want him to enroll in fitness gym to have regular workout and exercise. The only irony is that he negates all these efforts by eating monstrous meals.

I just read a news article today about a school in Louisville that was evacuated after asbestos was discovered in an area of the building that’s under construction. I consider this a good decision by the schools management since asbestos imposes great risks. I remember having a fear going to cinemas when I was young. This was when our teacher told us about the effects of asbestos and that this kind of material is common in movie houses.

Asbestos became popular among manufacturers and builders in the late 19th century because of its resistance to heat, electricity and chemical damage, its sound absorption and tensile strength.

Asbestos is known to cause different forms of diseases, and one of which is mesothelioma – a disease wherein malignant cells develop in the mesothelium, a protective lining that covers most of the body’s internal organs.

Just recently, a typhoon swept through Northern Luzon that caused millions in damages. This is the 5th tropical storm that hit the Philippines at this early period of the year. What’s surprising is that the rainy season hasn’t arrived yet, and summer is not officially over. Because of this, a lot of summer vacations and getaways to local tourist destinations and Westgate-like resorts were cancelled.

In the recent years, it’s been observed that there are some noticeable changes in our climate. I’m no weather expert, but I find it alarming and I definitely consider it as a reason for concern.

Most of busy employees who have no time of doing additional household chores are availing of different laundry services. I don’t entrust my clothes to them it’s obvious that their primary objective is to deliver their service with the least cost possible and this generally sacrifices the quality of their service. I have had my experience when my favorite yellow top turned into orange with red patches. It was obviously damaged together with two other clothes. My complaint got me P900 in return – not enough to buy three signature clothes. This is in addition to the fact that most of these laundry services are quite expensive. The only good thing about it is that it spared us from the hours of exhausting labor.

We decided to purchase a washing machine and wash our own clothes. We chose an automatic LG washing machine. The hose that came with the machine allows it to be attached to any kind of faucet – be it ordinary or a branded one like Moen faucets. The machine operates with just few key presses. Overall, I really am satisfied with it and now I’m sure that my clothes are safe and clean.

Frozen yogurt idea isn’t that attractive to me, until I tried Red Mango today. I thought at first that I’d rather gobble on a cup of ice cream or drink a cold latte, but I’ve never tasted a frozen yogurt before, so we gave it a try. We ordered Blueberries & Cream waffle and a medium sized original frozen yogurt, with three toppings – crushed graham, chocolate flakes and mango. I give it a rating of 5/5. Two thumbs up!

I’m not sure if the yogurt provides any fat burning features, but I think it’s a great substitute for ice cream and a supplement to top weight loss pills.
