Holiday Season Gifts
Several people are now anticipating the holiday season. As the last month of the year slowly approaches, people are now working on their lists. They think of some gifts for their friends, families and love ones. Some are drafting already Christmas party invitations for their office or home Christmas parties. There are still a number of days left before the most awaited holiday of the year, so it’s not yet too late for everyone.
Holiday presents come in different forms and types. The traditional ones are usually wrapped in boxes and ribbons, and are still widely accepted. This is primarily because the feeling of surprise is still something that most people desire, especially whenever they accept something that they don’t expect. Modern gifts now include prepaid gift cards and gift certificates. There are specially designed holiday gift cards available for purchase in many malls and stores. There are even electronic gift cards that can be purchased and used online.
Note that the spirit gift giving has been present for decades. A gift represents emotions such as love, gratitude and appreciation. Whenever you offer a gift, remember the reason why you’re doing it. Regardless of what gift that is, as long as it comes from your heart, for sure that will be welcomed and appreciated by your loved ones.
Marlon’s Oath
The holiday season has just ended and most of us are bloated. At this time of the year, many people are planning to shred excess weight gained. Some prefer going to the gym for physical exercise while others choose to use the best weight loss pill available in the market. Though nobody won in our bet, I wish Marlon considers cutting down his diet. He gained six pounds in less than a month.
Marlon’s oath:
“I, Marlon Dawas, promise to eliminate my belly fat and belly lines by Dec. 10, 2008. If I will not be able to achieve this, I promise to donate P20,000 to a malnourished horse for a good cause, for her shopping spree.” – Sgd. Marlon Dawas
Chill
Were still spending the holiday season here in Baguio. It’s cold and we’re anticipating the temperature to drop as we approach the months of Jan and Feb. The lowest we got so far this season is 9 degrees Celsius, and that gave major trouble to farmers as it caused the vegetables to freeze. Other than that, people felt glad as tourist keeps on coming up the city to experience the Christmas chill. This is what I love about this city. I just hope it doesn’t come to a point that snow will fall and temperature goes way below zero degrees. If that happens, then all residents must stock winter clothes, install heaters and use tire chains to help them through the cold weather.
Candlelight Dinner for Two
I was begging my brother Carlo for a gift this Christmas and he said he already prepared one for me. I was surprised when I arrived home seeing a small dining table for two all set and adorned with paper flowers made by Tobbie. The table was nestled in a corner of our living room. Instead of a menu card stands a Christmas card with Carlo’s warm greetings. At the center of the table was a candle and it really burnt beautifully because of the fine glitters mixed in its wax. When I asked him where he bought the candle and I am planning to buy one, he said “That candle is yours. I got it from your room. Mom said you’ll be happy to use it instead of just keeping it forever there. Hehehe!”
To match the Quoizel lighting, he played good instrumental music in the background.
He prepared a four-course meal for Marlon and me. The starters were garlic bread and special cream of mushroom soup. The main course was Carlo’s signature steak in gravy and broccoli. The dessert was his own version of banana split. He really planned everything beforehand. Although the dishes were quite simple, it was really amazing that he was able to put this all together.
It has been an evening of good food and fun dining!
