“A credit card is one of man’s great inventions…”

Apparently true, at least from the perspective of urban folks. Who would have imagined taking home something in exchange for a swipe of a card? Even the little girl in the film ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic’ sees magic in it, and became a supporter later in her life.

The credit card industry couldn’t have been in such heights without excellent IT solutions that surround and support it. This provides the infrastructure for the millions of transactions that happens worldwide day in and day out. For the past years, there have been improvements in all areas of credit card services. Advanced security features, online application and up to date balance checking are just a few of them.

Numerous credit card providers and banks have partnered to provide the best services to their customers. In most credit cards offered by banks, you will notice logos of Visa, MasterCard, American Express and other affiliates to make your credit card experience better. Given this credit card service, there is a big chance that your credit will be accepted by any merchant worldwide. This definitely gives anybody total flexibility and convenience.

As the time passes by, several banks and card companies have improved their credit card services. They now provide competitive discounts, nice rewards, bonuses and other promotions. This concept has been shown in some movies such as Bridal Wars.

A barcode scanner is an electronic device for reading printed barcodes, which are widely-used means of identification. Its primary purpose is tracking and several industries deeply rely on this technology. Such businesses include manufacturing, wholesale and retail shops, airlines, entertainment and a lot more.

The onset of this technology was traced back in 1932 when a project at Harvard University was initiated to support and automate customer purchasing. This project was started by Wallace Flint and was envisioned to use the punch card systems. However, due to the Great Depression, the project never materialized but Flint’s works have been credited.

In the late 1940’s, the first official barcode images were produced by Bernard Silver, Norman Joseph Woodland and Jordin Johanson. This was inspired by the Morse code – converting dots and dashes to extended narrow and wide lines. They applied for a patent it was issued on 1952.

Although the 450d and 1000d look identical, some differences include the resolution (mega pixels), weight and the hand grip of the camera. Generally, the specs of the 1000d is lower than the 450d. A notable feature is that the 1000d is the lightest Canon DSLR in the market so far.

“Something Beautiful is Blossoming in the East” – Eastwood Mall’s catchphrase.
So we played around with it and got a few shots from the newly opened Eastwood Mall, which had a soft opening last Saturday – November 15, 2008. The mall is nicely-built but the flooring is just so ordinary. Most of the shops are signature brands. Only 30-35% of the shops are open I guess so there’s much to look forward to. Starbucks, The Timezone and Eastwood Cinemas are at the fourth floor and there’s Italianni’s and the CCA (Center for Culinary Arts) at the 3rd floor. The CCA can offer convenience to the residents of Eastwood who’d want to enroll in culinary. The mall is also connected to the Richmonde Hotel.
