Jordan’s Latest Move

Michael Jordan is again active in the NBA.

No. He did not declare another comeback because he can’t compete actively in today’s NBA even if he take’s in hgh releaser or any other type of supplement. He was just recently inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame, so there’s no way he’s coming back.

Michael’s latest move was to buy controlling interest of Charlotte Bobcats, practically making him the major owner of the ballclub. He’s the first former player to own controlling interest in any NBA team. This was made possible because he’s not a mere athlete but a great businessman as well, as proven by his million dollar earnings from endorsement and other businesses particularly his Jordan brand.

As of this writing, the Bobcats are 9th in the Eastern Conference. A historic first playoff berth will be definitely mark this year as a success for the franchise.

The 2010 Winter Olympics and 2010 NBA All-Stars

This weekend is an important time for the world of sports. Two of the globally acknowledge sports events are happening this mid-February.

First is the 21st Olympic Winter games (XXI). This regular multi-sport event, held every four years, is currently in Vancouver, Canada and features winter sports (held on snow or ice) including Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, figure skating, bobsledding and ice hockey. This event is scheduled from Feb 12 to 28, 2010.

The NBA All-Star weekend will also be held this weekend at Dallas. As usual, the event features celebrity basketball, rookie-sophomore game, slam-dunk competition, three-point shootout, skills challenge, shooting stars competition, H-O-R-S-E competition, and of course the NBA All-Star game.

This is a month to remember especially for the sports aficionados. Hopefully, there won’t be any news use of illegal muscle supplements, and other performance enhancing drugs. May all the athletes stop cheating realize the real essence of the sport they play.

Cotto Gets Knocked Down Round 8, Pacquiao Wins!!

At least from EA Sport’s simulation.

I had fun watching the simulation of this weekend’s Pacquiao vs Cotto match recently posted at ESPN.com. As of now, the odds are in favor of Pacquiao but with only a slight margin.

You can watch it below or through their site.

There are only a few days before the actual fight. The Pacquiao vs Cotto boxing results will be posted here. Stay tuned.

Double Chin, Fat Belly

A double chin and fat belly. These are signs that you need to lose some weight especially if you don’t have them before. There are lots of ways to do so. One would be controlling your diet – having ample food intake and without much carbohydrates and fats. For some, a diet supplement will help. In addition, regular exercise is highly recommended. You can hit the gym or engage in sports such as swimming, biking, basketball and more. The idea is to increase your physical activities. A healthy diet and constant exercise will surely help to stay fit and healthy.

Lamar Odom is Coming Back to Los Angeles

It was reported that Lamar Odom will be going back to the Lakers to help defend their championship. This means that the lineup will be as strong as before: Fisher, Bryant, Gasol, Artest, Odom, Bynum. The roster looks scary – and expensive. Not sure if LA Lakers is the richest franchise in the NBA, but judging by the names of their players, I believe they belong to the top 5.

It can be remembered that the Lakers defeated the Magic, sending the latter team packing for their Orlando vacations. Honestly, I hoped for a Nuggets-Magic showdown just to make the 2009 Finals a non-Lakers and non-Celtics show. This didn’t happen and the Lakers proved to be the best team for the season. There is a great chance that they will have a repeat. But then, everybody said that when Celtics won last year.

It’s Lakers vs Magic

Contrary to most predictions, the anticipated duel between Kobe and Lebron will have to wait for at least another year. Kobe did his part, but not Lebron.

A day after the Lakers sent the Nuggets home, the Cavs fell short of beating the Orlando Magic despite the valiant guarantee from Mo Williams. This Magic team is really amazing. The pairing Dwight Howard’s inside presence and the team’s magical touch from the three-point area is just too much for the Cavaliers. The Orlando’s shooters – Lewis, Lee, Alston, Turkoglu, Pietrus – have been consistent and dominant throughout the series.

I just wish the Cavs will win the title next year. I really do. Lebron is still young and he has a lot of playing years ahead of him. For now, I guess he will have to utilize one of those New York Yankees tickets.

Actually, I predicted a Nuggets-Magic Finals. Too bad Chauncey and Melo can’t carry Denver past the Lakers. Still, I’m still looking forward for this year’s championship.

My prediction: Magic in 7.

Sportsfest 2008

We just concluded our company’s sports fest. Our department joined several events, including basketball, volleyball, bowling, badminton, foosball and others. Our men’s team wasn’t that fortunate in basketball as they bowed down to every opponent except for the last game wherein they shot high percentage in the 3-point area. Mind you, it was like winning a championship because that’s the first win for us in two seasons. During the awarding ceremonies, the basketball trophies were presented to the winners. We didn’t leave empty handed though, because we took silver in bowling and gold in foosball.
