Looking for a Cbox Alternative
I’ve noticed that my website always triggers a pop-up window which is the http://adserving.cpxinteractive.com
I’ve begged Marlon to help me find which item in my sidebar creates the pop-up. It’s just so annoying that every time you open my site, a pop-up window appears. I’m also thinking about my visitors who get pissed off by the unwanted pop-ups brought about by my site but thankfully, it is not anything harmful. After 3 hours of debugging and deleting items, we found the issue. The culprit is the cbox!
First observation is that it only happens in IE. If I use Firefox, I don’t get the pop-ups.
Here’s how we found out:
1. Close all IE sessions
2. Open your website in IE. The pop-up window will appear.
3. Open your C:\Documents and Settings\Windows log on id\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
4. Look for the entry in the Internet Address column which matches the title of the pop-up window. In this case, the adserving.cpxinteractive.com
4. Open that file. (or copy and paste to another location so you can open it using a text editor)
5. Quickly browse through the code. In this example, I saw that it came from cbox
Cbox is my chatbox that allows my visitors leave their comments but I am now looking for another alternative. Cbox is actually good only if you upgrade to the premium version which is $2/month. It’s a bit heavy for a starter like me who doesn’t earn much from my site. It will just be an added cost not mentioning my domain cost and hosting expenses.

Hi, you can try shoutmix.com :)
Hi Allen, thanks so much for the advice :) I’m going to sign up for shoutmix and hopefully that won’t give any pop ups anymore.
What’s wrong with cbox? I like!

It’s the first time I comment here and I should say that you provide genuine, and quality information for bloggers! Good job.
p.s. You have a very good template . Where have you got it from?
Hello Jack, thank you for your comment. I made this theme using Artisteer. You can generate lots of unique templates using this.
Actually, Firefox blocks advertisement more efficiently than IE. Anyway, you might have installed Adblocker or something.
Cbox sustains itself through revenue through advertisements. Btw, shoutmix looks like its not a bad alternative.
I’ve seen other websites use Chatango.
thanks for the alternative, i might have both inside my website :)
Hi,
Thanks for the info. :)
While I was searching for an alternative, I found this great tagboard that comes without any ads at all. Not even text ads. Only thing is that its a little difficult to setup, but once your done it works great.
