Pocket Multi Tool

What is a Multi Tool?

A multi-tool is a portable, small, versatile hand tool that combines several individual tool functions in a single instrument. The typical tool functions that are included in most multi tools are knives, scissors, screw drivers, pliers, and a lot more.

The size of a typical multi-tool is enough to be used by single hand and it usually fits perfectly in a pocket. Some models are designed together with a pouch or container to be hanged on a belt.

There are two common designs of pocket multi tools. The most known design comes in the form of a short, bulky stick about 3-5 inches long. Underneath the covering are multiple set of tools and instruments that function uniquely from each other. Such functions are the one stated above. The thickness and cost of this pocket multi tool is determined by how much functionality is embedded in it. The most popular brand perhaps is the Swiss army knife, registered under the longtime suppliers of knives to the Swiss Armed Forces – Wenger S.A. and Victorinox A.G.

The second one resembles pliers, which makes it the primary function of the tool. Beneath the handle, there are multiple smaller tools that can be exposed upon pressing a small button or plainly by pulling it out. These embedded tools are usually screw drivers, knives, can opener and other smaller instruments that can fit in the handle’s size.

Pocket multi tools are best for people who go on camping, scouting, trekking, mountain climbing, biking and other forms of outdoor activities. This is also a handy tool that can be used day-to-day.

There are lots of manufacturers of multi tools. Perhaps the most popular include Victorinox, Wenger, Leatherman, Gerber, Buck Knives, Spyderco, and Dremel. There are also other makers but the ones stated above are the usual brands that are known by most people.
