I’ve noticed that my website always triggers a pop-up window which is the http://adserving.cpxinteractive.com

I’ve begged Marlon to help me find which item in my sidebar creates the pop-up. It’s just so annoying that every time you open my site, a pop-up window appears. I’m also thinking about my visitors who get pissed off by the unwanted pop-ups brought about by my site but thankfully, it is not anything harmful. After 3 hours of debugging and deleting items, we found the issue. The culprit is the cbox!

First observation is that it only happens in IE. If I use Firefox, I don’t get the pop-ups.

Here’s how we found out:

1. Close all IE sessions

2. Open your website in IE. The pop-up window will appear.

3. Open your C:\Documents and Settings\Windows log on id\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

4. Look for the entry in the Internet Address column which matches the title of the pop-up window. In this case, the adserving.cpxinteractive.com

4. Open that file. (or copy and paste to another location so you can open it using a text editor)

5. Quickly browse through the code. In this example, I saw that it came from cbox

Cbox is my chatbox that allows my visitors leave their comments but I am now looking for another alternative. Cbox is actually good only if you upgrade to the premium version which is $2/month. It’s a bit heavy for a starter like me who doesn’t earn much from my site. It will just be an added cost not mentioning my domain cost and hosting expenses.
