Take Control of Your Finances
Managing personal finances is not that simple. Even when you read a lot of personal finance books, magazines, or blogs, there are still things that don’t apply to your situation. The point is, there’s no better person to manage your personal finances except yourself.
Here are some tips that may help:
Monitor your expenses regularly. You should keep track of your daily spending, payment for electric and bills, car or motorhome insurance, phone bills, gas expenses, and more. You need to log this daily. Grouping each expense into certain categories is a good idea. Such as categories include grocery, travel expenses, dine out expenses, personal expenses, entertainment, etc. This will allow you to see where you spend the bulk of your money, and eventually help you identify things that can reduce your expenses.
Limit the use of your credit card. Only use it for emergency situations, for purchasing a need and not a want, or in cases when you’re confident that you can pay the balance within the shortest period. Discipline yourself in using your credit card.
Identify ways to save money. You can do this by monitoring your expenses as discussed earlier, and by observing your activities at home. Such include saving on water and electricity by doing laundry in full load and turning off lights/appliances when not in use.
