In many households, one of the common problems experienced is on the washing machine drains. This could be because the washing machine won’t drain due to the drain hose, drain pump, drain pan, drain pipe or other items.

Some sentiments from people are as follows, whichare actual household issues posted in some website. These are only a few and there are more out there

Like the person before, I too have a drain problem. The 2″ drainline ties into a 3″ drainline. The 3″ line has a vent. It seems to my calculations that the backup is at the 2-3 inch joint. This is a 3×2 combo sanitary tee. The 3″ line is clear (I know this because it is also a drain for another washing machine in the adjoining duplex.). What could be causing the back up?
My washing machine floods my floor with water when it is draining the tub water. The hose is in place in the drain pipe but the water fountains out the drain pipe. I have put a garden hose down the pipe drain, no water flows back. There is no blockage. What could the problem be?

My washing machine drain is also overflowing. I have air vents to the from the main line 5 ft away. I old washing machine never overflowed. My newer Maytag does. I am told that it is the size of the drain line. My house built in 1975 has a 1.5 inch drain line from the washer. I am told that the newer washing machine force out water a lot faster than the older machines…and now need at least a 2 inch drain line to handle the newer flow rates. It sounds right. I wish there was a way to reduce the machine flow rate, since i must knock holes in my block wall to replace my old drain.

We live in a townhouse, about 35 years old, with a washing machine, about five years old, that does super load sizes, very high spin rate, really pumps the water out. It’s installed on the groundfloor draining via hose to a vertical drain pipe — installed in a pretty standard water closet. The drain pipe isn’t very large in the first place, it’s old and narrowed by crud and the washer really pushes it’s capacity. Today it’s overflowing again. We’ve had both the washer drain and the main drain snaked by a professional; the first time it made a huge difference, buying us about 3 months of clear draining; the next time it made little real difference. Although there may be some temporary partial blockages coming and going in the drains, probably the main drain, I think the real problem is this washing machines flow rate versus that tiny old drain.

How to Solve Washing Machine Drain Problems?

Refer to Websites
One of the things you need to do is to search for similar problems on the internet. There might be other people out there that experienced the same problem and has a solution posted by somebody else. Such websites include forums where a discussion thread is opened to everyone involved. Other sites are expert sites for washing machines, pressure washers, gardening and other household items. You just need to find the correct section. Other websites are blogs, advice pages or other question and answer sites.

Contact an Expert
In this case, you can look for experts online as well. Before you shell out any money for any assistance, you might want to consider doing the work your self with the advice taken from experts online. You can also check on the manual provided or the website of the manufacturer.

Call for Professional Help
In some instances that you have no option, calling local help is the best solution. Though you will need to give out money, this is in exchange for a professional job. So the assumption is that your problem should be fixed eventually.
